Dan Fortin, a 27-year veteran with IBM is the new president of IBM Canada, replacing Ed Kilroy.
Kilroy resigned earlier in January to become the chief executive officer of the Mississauga, Ont.-based Symcor Inc.
Fortin recently headed up IBM’s small- and mid-sized business operations for Canada, the U.S. and Latin America. Previously, Fortin handled IBM’s dot.com and channel businesses.
A spokesperson for IBM Canada said Fortin’s small- and mid-sized business experience is a valuable asset to the Canadian operations as small and mid-sized business is a large market in Canada. As well, Fortin’s fluency in French and having grown up in Quebec will be valuable in working with IBM’s Quebec customers.
IBM Canada has some 20,000 employees.
