HTML5 will figure prominently at this week’s Google I/O technical conference for developers.
HTML5 is the budding specification for standards-based Web multimedia. It is gaining traction from not just Google, but Apple and Microsoft as well. A status update on HTML5 itself will be offered at one session during the San Francisco conference. Another session will cover how to leverage HTML5 in Google Web Toolkit while another covers developing with HTML5 APIs and Chrome, Chrome OS applications, and Chrome extensions.
Google declined to comment on who the keynote speakers would be. Key Google-driven technologies to be covered at the conference include the Android mobile platform, Chrome browser, the Google App Engine cloud service, and Google APIs.
“Google I/O brings together thousands of developers for two days of deep technical content, focused on building the next generation of Web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open Web technologies,” including Android and other Google software, Google said in a Web-based description of the event.
The event will again will host a “Developer Sandbox,” featuring more than 100 developers who have built applications based on technologies featured at the event. Attendees also will able to suggest future directions for Android and hear about Google Apps Marketplace.
Google I/O from May 18 to May 20.
