HP unveils new disk array series

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard is launching a new series of enterprise-class disk arrays aimed at lowering costs and reducing business downtime.

The StorageWorks 2000 Modular Smart Array (SMA2000) series are geared toward small and medium-sized businesses, but HP said that some enterprises may find the MSA2000 ideal for remote office, departmental or secondary storage needs. The arrays are easily deployed in both physical and virtual server environments and support a wide range of application deployments, including VMware virtualization software.

The MSA2000 disk arrays start at an entry-level price of US$5,000 and are expected to be available in March.
