Hewlett-Packard Development Company LP of Palo Alto, Calif. is shipping a four-socket server blade, the Integrity BL870c, which is designed to cut power use by up to 25 per cent.
Designed for the BladeSystem c3000 and c7000 enclosures, the BL870c is said to offer twice the memory and twice processing power of the BL860c. It runs on both versions 2 and 3 of the manufacturer’s Unix operating system, HP-UX 11i.
It also runs on Windows, OpenVMS, RedHat or SuSE.
The server is targeted at organizations running enterprise applications such as enterprise resource planning and service oriented architecture.
