HP offers all-SSD option on array

Solid-state hard drives are catching on well enough with enterprises and data centres that Hewlett-Packard is now selling an all-SSD version of its 3PAR P10000 array, according to this article from InfoWorld.

Being able to deploy SSDs throughout the P10000 could save data-center space in some cases, HP argues. That’s because hybrid arrays that offer only a part of their capacity for SSDs can force IT shops to buy more arrays just to get the amount of solid-state capacity they need.
 
On the other hand, a year ago we ran a story about a survey done by a data recovery firm which mentioned  57 per cent of respondents who used SSDs had suffered a data loss incident. Clearly if you’re going to invest in solid-state drives a good backup system is essential. And all organizations have one, right? …
