Hewlett-Packard Co. has signed a definitive agreement to buy a consulting company that specializes in designing and implementing systems and applications based on Microsoft Corp.’s .Net architecture for Web services.
Extreme Logic Inc., based in Atlanta, would become a wholly-owned subsidiary operating as part of HP’s services division, HP said Wednesday.
The privately held company is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and has deployed .Net systems for clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, health care, retail, government, manufacturing and telecommunications. Its clients are primarily large organizations.
In addition to its strength in the Microsoft .Net architecture, Extreme Logic also brings expertise in other areas such as e-learning and security, according to HP. The acquisition should boost HP’s presence in the southern and eastern regions of the U.S. HP will absorb about 200 Extreme Logic employees.
HP, in Palo Alto, Calif., didn’t release financial details of the transaction. Extreme Logic was founded in 1993 and was previously called Omni Technology Centers, but changed its name in 2000.
