Research In Motion posted for a senior hardware engineering designer, who will work on the entire handheld baseband and digital subsystem for a project being developed at the company’s headquarters in Waterloo, Ont. The BlackBerry firm wants more than seven years’ experience and a BSEE degree or equivalent, adding that an MSEE would be an asset. The job will involve “working closely with hardware architecture teams to ensure that platform reference designs are successfully integrated into the handheld device interfacing to software teams for baseband related integration activities,” according to the posting. And yes, you’ll get a BlackBerry.
QuickMobile said it is working with a number of high-profile clients to create mobile applications and is looking for an iPhone developer. The job, which requires at least two years’ experience and a university degree in computer science, will involve working closely with the firm’s chief technology officer. The position is ideally suited for someone comfortable working in a small team, the company said. QuickMobile is working with Go Recruitment to fill the role.
Recruiting firm Fuze HR Solutions is working for a client on the hunt for a network administrator. According to the posting, the job will involve the usual duties such as software upgrades, hardware installations, upgrades and maintenance, but also improving current infrastructure. Based in Montreal, the permanent position demands a number of product-specific skill sets, including HP Proliant Servers and XW class workstations with Front End connectivity powered by Cisco Routers, Cisco PIX type Firewalls and ASA series security devices. Expertise in Windows and some Linux is also a must. The salary was not posted but will be based on experience.
Cineplex Entertainment, which was recently hiring for a head of its IT department, is also advertising for a senior computer operations analyst. Based in Toronto, the job will report into the IT director and involve managing Active Directory, Exchange, system management, backup, virtualization and hardware architecture/configuration. Cineplex wants at least five years’ experience and the MCITP certification.
