Hashtag Trending – What to expect from the biggest smartphone event in the world, Mobile World Congress 2018

Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest events centered around mobile devices in the world, and with major announcements like the Samsung Galaxy S9 expected to break later this week, today on Hashtag Trending we’ll be telling you what you can expect throughout the week.

The first one is easy, considering Samsung announced it yesterday at an event before MWC opened in full. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will easily be the biggest story to come out this week, but as of this recording on the Friday beforehand, I don’t actually know exactly what Samsung announced just yet. So while I can’t get into the specific of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus on today’s Hashtag Trending, head on over to itworldcanada.com to learn the specifics of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone.

Samsung won’t be the only company announcing a new flagship device. Sony is expected to reveal a new flagship device called the Xperia XZ Pro that could be the first Sony smartphone with a dual-camera setup. Additionally, Lenovo is expected to announced the Motorola Moto G6 series of smartphones, and Asus is expected to unveil the ZenFone 5.

As for the rest, don’t expect anything from Apple or Google at MWC this week. LG and Huawei will both have a presence at the show, but neither of them are expected to launch a new flagship device. Early reports indicated that we may see the LG G7, but it that is no longer the case. Instead, LG has confirmed that it will reveal an upgraded version of the V30 and 2018 editions of the K8 and K10 smartphones. Huawei likewise won’t be unveiling the successors to its P10 smartphone, as that will be making its debut on March 27th. However, rumors seem to point to an announcement of new Matebook laptops or a new MediaPad tablet.

That’s what’s trending today. Hashtag Trending is produced by IT World Canada. Today’s episode is brought to you by SAS, the world leader in advanced analytics and Official Analytics Partner of the Canadian Olympic Team.
