Instagram doesn’t like Canada, well not quite, but you’ll see what I mean. The next-generation of VR headsets are set to ship this month. And if you’ve ever wanted to instantly summon tech support using a mobile app, well now you can.
Trending on LinkedIn, Instag will be using Canada as a test bed. This week, Canadian Instagram users will have their like counts hidden. The company announced the pilot at Facebook’s annual developer conference, F8. Instagram wants users to focus on the photos and videos shared, not how many likes they receive. But you will still be able to see how many likes your own photos get. It will be interesting to see how the experiment changes content shared on the platform in Canada.
Trending on Google, the Valve Index virtual reality headset went on sale yesterday with pre-orders beginning through Steam. There are a number of VR headsets coming out right now, and this one is priced at the high-end $999 US. And it’s not available for shipping to Canada. Valve says its focused on delivering the highest fidelity VR experience possible. Perhap the most interesting part of the system are the controllers, which use 87 sensors to track the position of your hands and fingers, and how hard you’re pressing down on the buttons. This experience contrasts with Facebook-owned Oculus, which just announced the Oculus Rift S will ship on May 21 for $399 US.

Trending on ProducHunt, the Uber for IT has finally arrived. At least, that’s the promise of FanTazTech, which offers an iPhone app that promises to solve all your computer problems. You can describe your issue, or even record video and images of the problem, and get matched with a technician that will provide remote support. Of course, you’ll need to register your credit card as well so you can pay for the service. And if you think you’ve got the geek-cred to work for FanTazTech, the site is onboarding. It estimates its remote technicians can make between $20 to $90 per hour. It just depends what jobs you’re doing and how many you complete.
