In a blog post Sept. 13, Google announced the availability of J2ObjC, an open-source tool that allows developers to translate Java code into Objective C to create iOS apps without having to edit the generated files. J2ObjC will allow Java code to be incorporated directly into iOS applications, the company says, and will fully support Java 6.
Google describes the command-line tool as “currently between alpha and beta quality.” It can be used with the majority of build tools on Mac OSX systems.
