Fortinet Inc. will soon have a 100 GbE rack-sized firewall in its lineup.
The company said Monday its FortiGate 3810D will be released in the fourth quarter, giving large enterprises and carriers the ability to handle 300+ Gbps throughput to meet increasing bandwidth demands.
It uses the company’s FortiASIC Network Processor 6 technology in a 3U-sized appliance, which Fortinet says previously required a chassis-based system.
The 3810D saves space and power and includes features such as Virtual Domain and transparent mode, allowing networks to be segmented without having to make major modifications to a network.
Fortinet says the unit delivers 10 times data center and five times next generation firewall performance for any enterprise office. The latest FortiASIC network processors triple the typical range of top-end appliances previously only achievable with chassis solutions, it adds.
Software options enable advanced security functions such as intrusion prevention, application control, advanced threat protection and web filtering to be switched on, the company said, providing integrated security and additional protection.
