Microsoft Corp. is offering researchers and hackers up to $100,000 in cash for reporting ways to exploit its Windows 8.1 operating systems and Internet Explorer 11 Web browser.
The software company said it will launch on June 26 three security bounty programs aimed at reaching out to the software development community and seeking their input in finding way to make Microsoft (NASDQ: MSFT) products more secure.

The following programs will launch next week:
Microsoft Bypass Bounty – Microsoft will pay up to $100,000 for “truly novel exploitation techniques” against the built-in security features of the Windows 8.1. Preview
BlueHat Bonus for Defense – Defensive ideas that accompany a qualifying mitigation bypass submission can earn up to $50,000
Internet Explorer 11 Preview Bug Bounty – Microsoft will pay up to $11,000 for critical vulnerabilities that impact IE 11 Preview on Windows 8.1. The entry period for this program will be June 26 to July 25, 2013
“Having these bounty programs provides a way to harness the collective intelligence and capabilities of security researchers to help further protect customers,” said Microsoft.
