Provo, Utah-based Novell Inc. released a NetWare Upgrade Protection Bundle in June. According to Novell, the bundle offers increased revenue opportunities for channel partners and cost savings for customers planning a NetWare upgrade. The bundle provides customers with an upgrade to NetWare 5.1 and savings on upgrade protection coverage. Houston, Tex.-based BMC Software Inc. and San Francisco-based Securant Technologies announced a strategic business alliance in June to jointly develop, market and sell an integrated solution for provisioning and managing user access to Web-based applications. The companies say they will create seamless interoperability between BMC’s CONTROL-SA security management suite and Securant’s ClearTrust SecureControl access management system, which will synchronize user and security management, reduce administration costs and prevent unauthorized access to applications.
