Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd.

of Mississauga, Ont., launched the HP LaserJet 9000 printer series in May. Billed as the company’s fastest Internet-enabled monochrome printer series, the printer is capable of printing at 50 pages per minute (ppm). Being Internet-enabled, it is remotely configurable and manageable. Features also include automated Web-based supplies ordering, HP instant support and an e-service providing printer self-help and troubleshooting over the Web. The LaserJet 9000 series prints out the first page of a document within eight seconds, has a 300,000 pages-per-month duty cycle and has 64MB memory. An optional 3,000-sheet stapler and stacker is available. Pricing is listed at $6,881.

Tivoli Systems Inc.

of Markham, Ont., announced its support for the UNIX operating system, AIX 5L Version 5.1, in the Tivoli Business Systems Manager 1.5. According to Tivoli, customers running Tivoli Business Systems Manager will be able to take advantage of AIX’s capabilities to view the complete IT infrastructure while getting faster and less costly application deployment.
