Taking the instant messaging trend one step further, IBM’s Lotus Development Corp. released Sametime Everyplace 1.0 for wireless devices last month in Las Vegas. Together with Notes and the Domino Everyplace family of servers, Lotus will enable line-of-business managers and mobile workers to access Lotus collaborative functionality on mobile devices including PDAs and Pocket PCs, the company said. Sametime Everyplace 1.0 supports open Internet standards and uses Lotus Sametime technology including Java APIs and Java Beans to enable easy incorporation of mobile instant messaging into a Web services architecture. Sametime Everyplace 1.0 will be available this month and pricing will be announced at ship date. Visit Lotus on the Web at www.lotus.com.
