Elpida to announce new DRAM factory plans on Thursday

Elpida Memory Inc. is to announce plans for a new memory chip fabrication plant in Hiroshima in western Japan on Thursday, the company said Wednesday.

The Japanese chip maker will hold a news conference at 04:30 GMT, said Yuko Takahashi, a spokeswoman for the company.

A report in the Wednesday morning edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business newspaper said the company will invest
