Halifax-based cable company EastLink is investing more than $1 million to upgrade its communications network in the nearby East Hants area.
Construction began this month. When completed in the spring, it will be able to offer EastLink Telephone service, as well as the ability to expand its digital cable services such as video on demand.
“The expansion to the East Hants area will give residents the choice in telecommunications service providers and the opportunity to bundle the fastest Internet service and best television service in a watch, surf and talk bundle for one low price,” said Ian Lezama, the company’s director of marketing. EastLink Telephone costs $20 a month.
In the summer, the cableco will add video on demand to its offerings to East Hants, a municipality of about 22,000 people just outside Halifax.
