As the VMWorld virtualization and cloud computing conference kicked off in San Francisco Monday, Citrix Systems Inc. announced its acquisition of virtualization automation and management provider VMLogix Inc.
The acquisition will accelerate the company’s OpenCloud strategy, bringing lifecycle management capabilities to the Citrix OpenCloud platform and allowing Citrix to add a self-service interface to the XenServer virtualization platform, states Citrix.
Financial terms of the VMLogix acquisition were not disclosed. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010.
In the following interview with ComputerWorld Canada, Wes Wasson, senior vice-president and CMO at Citrix, talks about what the VMLogix acquisition means for Citrix customers and provides some insight on what to expect next from Citrix in the near future.
Wasson, who plans to speak at the Citrix and Microsoft Desktop Virtualization Roadshow in Toronto on Tuesday, also touched on the unique relationship between Citrix and Microsoft Corp., which continue to remain close-knit partners while competing within the virtualization space.
