Cisco Systems Inc. has added its presence to Yahoo Inc.’s small business pages, setting up a “solution centre” that offers content on networking products and e-business technologies for businesses in a variety of industries.
The move Monday comes as both companies gun for the small- and medium-sized business markets, which increasingly look to the Web to find answers to questions on how to upgrade and improve their systems.
Cisco’s Solution Center offers information on e-commerce and networking products for the health care, financial services and retail industries, among others, as well as offering companies an online business and technology assessment.
Resources from the San, Jose networking company accompany Yahoo’s other small business fare, including Web hosting services, directory listings and e-mail marketing information.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo has taken a different track from some other portals, moving away from purely consumer and ad-driven offerings to premium services aimed at the small- and medium-sized business markets. For the most part, the move has been successful, allowing Yahoo to carve out a niche and reap added revenue. Cisco’s move onto the portal is aimed at snagging a piece of the growing market.
