WHAT’S HOT: Canon Inc.’s Color Bubble Jet S600 produces decent text, with clean, solid blacks and graceful italics. Narrow parallel lines also print reasonably well, a real challenge for most ink jets. Color graphics look generally attractive, showing subtle shading and good detail, although they’re a bit dark in some places–and dotty where ink coverage is very light. Another attraction is this printer’s reasonable ink costs, which we figure to be only 2 cents per page for black text and 13.6 cents per page for color graphics.
