Canadian city among world

Fredericton, N.B. is among the Top Seven intelligent communities named in 2008 by New York-based Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).

The others named are Dundee, Scotland; Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea; Northeast Ohio, U.S.; Tallinn, Estonia; Westchester County, New York, U.S.; and, Winston-Salem, N.C., U.S.

The communities named are described by ICF as a model of economic development in the 21st century. Selections were based on analysis by academic experts who filtered the list of entrants down from ICF’s Smart21 Communities announced last October.

In May, one among the Top Seven will be named the Intelligent Community of the Year.
