Freemont, Calif.-based Celestix Networks Inc., has released a groupware solution that the company claims even non-techies can use. Called the Taurus Groupware Appliance, the product is designed for small and midsized businesses and comes pre-installed with Cybozu Chare360 Office Collaboration Suite and allows group members access to e-mail, schedules, contacts, tasks, announcements, memos, files and projects from a personalized home page. According to Celestix, Taurus Groupware can be wirelessly enabled through an optional PCMCIA – 802.11b – card. Taurus Groupware is built on a customized Linux OS and comes with an Intel Celeron 900MHz CPU, 265MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and two high-speed 100BaseT ports. Last month, Markham, Ont.-based Novell Canada announced NetMail 3.1, the company’s cross-platform Internet messaging solution that now operates on Microsoft Windows NT and 2000. Formerly the Novell Internet Messaging System (NIMS), NetMail is a standards-based messaging solution that offers e-mail, calendaring and schedule sharing across the Internet. Novell said 3.1 supports hundreds of thousands of users on a single server, and supports multiple clients such as Outlook, Eudora, Novell GroupWise and Netscape Mail.
