Continuing with its push of IP and MPLS backbone networks, Cisco Systems last month announced its Unified VPN Suite, a set of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies integrated across the company’s core and access platform portfolio. Unified VPN Suite includes new protocols such as Any Transport over MPLS (AtoM) and Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol version 3 (L2TP3), new deployment capabilities through Cisco Easy VPN and enhancements for integrating IPSec with MPLS. The San Jose, Calif.-based company also announced new VPN provisioning tools for service providers and enterprises to complement the release. Attempting to strengthen its position in the storage market, EMC Corporation recently announced a plethora of NAS offerings and storage solutions for its Celerra File Server. Included in the release is the Celerra Data Mover 510, which acts as a cluster of up to 14 dedicated file servers within Celerra and delivers double the capacity and connectivity of the previous generation Celerra. EMC also released enhancements to Celerra HighRoad software, including local file system replication. Also included in the new Celerra release are NAS Migration services providing migration services for NFS and CIFS environments; a new Celerra Configuration Wizard to automate the implementation of configurations; Celerra Concurrent Copy Backup. Other releases include the EMC Data Manager NDMP Support and Time Finder/FS.
