Cambridge, Ont.-based COM DEV International Ltd. announced late last month that it will be selling off its wireless subsystems division after several years of struggling to make the arm profitable. The company attributed the division’s rough ride in part to the troubled economy, and said it did not foresee much turnaround in the months ahead. COM DEV will instead focus on its space operations and emerging wireless Internet systems businesses, where the firm believes its microwave system design and engineering capabilities gives it a strong competitive advantage in global markets.
