Bomb scare causes Seybold, OracleWorld evacuation

SAN FRANCISCO – Thousands of show goers were evacuated from the OracleWorld conference and Seybold Seminars late Wednesday afternoon due to a bomb scare. Both tradeshows are held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Police entered the Moscone Center in San Francisco’s South of Market district shortly before 3 p.m. PT, just as attendees were filing into an afternoon keynote speech. Moscone North and South were evacuated, and shortly after Moscone West, which housed Seybold Seminars, was also evacuated. The blocks around Moscone quickly filled up with fire trucks and police as they closed off the road.

There were no initial reports of injuries.

One person that spoke with IDG News Service said the evacuation was orderly and everyone was cooperative.
