AT&T ramps up remote access service solutions

AT&T Global Network Services has boosted the functionality of its Remote Access Services (RAS) and Business Internet Services (BIS) offerings in Canada, the Toronto-based network service provider said Monday.

“Getting online when you’re away from the office should be the easiest part of your day – no matter where you are in the world.” said Anthony Cina, Product Manager, Business Internet Services, AT&T Global Network Services Canada in a prepared statement.

The enhancements offer teleworkers and remote travellers easier connectivity from more remote locations along with improved account mangagement, Cina said, adding that account administrators are now better able to keep track of users and network usage.

Among the features now available: AT&T Global Network Client V 5.X (travelling and mobile employees can connect quickly and efficiently with a single ID and password), Billing Data on the Web (a web-based tool that helps customers manage their accounts more efficiently by providing usage information on both an overall account and individual user ID basis) and Service Level Reporting (provides monthly reports that measure network accessibility).

AT&T also announced Monday its Business Internet Services, touted as a “one-stop” resource for secure Internet dial-up access. The new features include 56 Kbps high-speed access, secure remote access to corporate servers, built-in firewall technology to ensure access security and flexible invoicing and usage reporting by user.

The service can also be used to create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) over AT&T’s global IP backbone, AT&T said.
