The Apple developer Web site, which has been off line since Thursday last week, was hacked, according to the iPhone maker.
“Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer Web site,” a messaged on the site said. “Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed however we have not been able to rule out the possibility that developer names, mailing addresses and/or email addressed may have been accessed.
The hack came at a time when many developers are likely writing re-writing apps for the new iOS 7 and OSX Mavericks which is scheduled to ship in a few months.

Apple said it took the site down immediately last week upon discovery of the hack and began work on remediating the situation.
“In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer system, updating server software, and rebuilding our entire database,” Apple said.
Members whose membership are due to expire during the period, Apple said, had their membership extended and their apps will remain on the App Store.
