Apple and Ingram Micro open new Latin America subsidiaries

Apple Computer Inc. and Ingram Micro Inc. announced Tuesday separately the opening of new subsidiaries in Latin America to strengthen their presence in the region.

Apple announced it has opened a subsidiary in Argentina that will have sales, marketing, customer-service and training staffers. The hardware and software vendor expects this new office to bolster its sales not only in Argentina but in the entire Southern Cone region of South America as well, including neighboring countries such as Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Javier Braun, a 37-year-old Argentinean and former IBM Corp. executive, has been named the subsidiary’s general manager.

Meanwhile, IT product distributor Ingram Micro announced the opening of a Costa Rica subsidiary, which will have staff in charge of sales, billing and customer service. Federico Hern
