With the launch today of its Slate21 all-in-one desktop computer, Hewlett-Packard offers users yet another PC powered by the Android operating system.

The entry-level AiO comes with a 21.5-inch high-definition IPS touch screen, Tegra 4 quad core processor from Nvidia, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and a $399 price tag attached to it.

The computer, which was introduced in at an HP event in Beijing today, will be released in the United States in September.

“You’re basically getting the power and functionality of a high-powered Android device (fueled by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 processor running Jellybean 4.2.2),” said Eric Wiggins, procurement director at HP, in a blog post. “That means no-compromise access to Android apps blown-up across 21.5 inches.”

Wiggins foresees the Slate21, replacing “one or two mobile devices.” He said the Slate21 could also be used as a shared device. The Slate 21 allows the creation of up to five unique Android user profiles.

Wiggins said the device is optimized for cloud content and streaming but it still has 8GB of memory onboard. The Slate 21 also comes with an SD card slot as well as an external HDD or SSD storage over USB 2.0 devices.

In May this year, HP already released its SlateBookX2, a laptop-tablet hybrid device powered by Android. A month before that, the company introduced the Slate 7, a tablet device running the Android OS.

Other companies offering Android on computers include Acer, Asus and Samsung.
