When will it stop? Another high-level executive was reported to have left Advance Micro Devices Inc.
This time, Michael Goddard, left his post as chief design engineer at the California-based chip maker for Samsung Electronics. A quick check on his LinkedIn profile indicates that Goddard is now vice-president and chief systems architect at the research and development centre of Samsung in Austin, Texas.

The senior executive exodus at AMD could be traced back to 2011 when a flurry of departures at company is believed to have signaled a shift in strategy as its scrambles to catch up with rival Intel Corp.
At that time, AMD announced that Bob Rivet, executive vice-president and chief operations and administrative office and Marty Seyer, senior vice-president of corporate strategy had left the company. A month prior to that, Dirk Meyer, AMD’s CEO has resigned.
No less than 26 executives are reported to have left the company in recent months.
Goddard has been with AMD for 25 years and had worked closely with its former CEO Meyer. He also worked at the company design operations facility in India.
Both Intel and AMD have been suffering declines in revenue. For one, AMD is reported to have lost US157 million in the third quarter of 2012. Last year, it began laying off 1,800 people (15 per cent of its workforce) in order to save $210 million in 2013.
Intel remains the CPU market leader, but is also being hurt by the global economic downturn.
