Accenture cuts 760 employees

About 760 manager-level and employees at management and technology consulting business Accenture Ltd. are being laid off as part of a global workforce reduction at the company.

Spokesperson Roxanne Taylor said Friday that the majority of the affected workers are in the U.S., but she wouldn’t specify where they’re located. Accenture, which was formerly known as Andersen Consulting, has about 76,000 workers worldwide, she said.

The layoffs are scheduled to take place immediately. Even so,Taylor said the company is “continuing to recruit” workers with different skills.

“We expect that we’ll have a net increase in head count this year,” she said. Visit www.accenture.com for details.
