The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel is providing travellers some serious high-flying technology, according to its owners, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
The hotel is claimed to be the first airport hotel in the world to offer a self-service ‘common-use’ airline check-in. Guests can check-in to their flight from the hotel lobby. The airline check-in kiosk is a result of customer demand, designed to make airline check-in more efficient and less time consuming for departing guests. Currently, Air Canada and affiliates and Westjet are available on the kiosk, while other airlines should soon be added.
On Fairmont Gold, the hotel’s private concierge level, each of the 36 rooms is equipped with a unique touch-screen phone that adjusts environmental controls through motion sensors. The handy high-tech unit controls drapes, lights, heat, television and the stereo at the push of a button.
The hotel’s most recent addition, a digital whiteboard, is a versatile, convenient meeting tool. The 60” flat screen acts as a projector, TV, video monitor and white board, allowing for simultaneous dry erase and projection communication. With a combined computer and video projector, the digital whiteboard copies meeting notes directly onto your laptop.
Finally, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport is said to be the first hotel in North America to offer an entire floor of hypoallergenic guestrooms at no extra charge. Cutting-edge filtration systems purify the air and water, and a central vacuum system helps to dramatically reduce dust in the rooms.
