If only network operators and equipment suppliers in Europe could move as fast as the speeds their new 3G (third-generation) networks and handsets promise. A new wave of delays in rolling out the new mobile broadband service threatens to create still more uncertainty in a market that is everything but certain.
Here’s the latest setback: Germany’s Vodafone D2 GmbH has decided to push back commercial 3G service from the second half of 2002 to an undefined time in the first half of 2003 or even possibly later, according to the company’s Chief Executive Officer J
