Joy McKinnon has dedicated her career to leading postsecondary education, applied research, and adult learning in industry, the community and the college sector. In 2016, following twenty-seven years of academic leadership experience in the Ontario College system, Dr. McKinnon launched McKinnon Educational Consulting, a consulting practice focused on providing services in quality assurance, program and partnership development, applied research and international education to postsecondary institutions, government and other stakeholders. Recent projects have included supporting the development of new college programs and applied research initiatives related to Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to retiring from the College system, Joy served in a number of college leadership roles, including Vice-President Academic at Seneca College, Vice President Business Development at Algonquin College and Dean of Technology and more recently Vice President, International and Applied Research at George Brown College.
Joy holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, an Executive Master of Business Administration and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in French and English. She has served on the boards of the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT), the Ontario College Quality Assurance Service (OCQAS), the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (SOSCIP), the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), and the Centre for Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging.
