Credit union technology provider expands data centre

Fiserv Inc. a Brookfield, Wis.-based service provider for banks and financial companies, is expanding its data centre facilities as part of its support to Canadian credit unions.

Summit Information Systems today announced that Summit Financial Technologies Canada has established a data centre in Vancouver, and intends to open another in Toronto.

The data centres are part of Summit’s growing infrastructure to support service bureau and resource management delivery of iSpectrum, a banking system technology for credit unions.

The Vancouver data centre is co-located with Bell Canada, tapping directly into the main Internet pipeline for Western Canada for speed and reliability, the company said.

The Toronto data centre will act as the real-time backup and recovery facility for all Summit service bureau and resource management clients.

Locating data centres in different geographical areas means additional system redundancy and uninterrupted service, the company said.
