An Ottawa-based virtual machine lifecycle management company announced Monday its partnership with Fort Lauderdale, Fl.-based Citrix Systems.
Citrix moved into the server virtualization last August with its US$500 million purchase of Palo Alto, Calif.-based XenSource.
With its Global Citrix Alliance Partner Program, Citrix wants to work with companies like Embotics to help customers expand their adoption of virtualization products.
During last September’s VMworld in San Francisco, Embotics launched V-Commander, a lifecycle management tool which identifies, traces, manages, and controls virtual machines. The Ottawa company said the product aims at combating “virtual sprawl,” which is created when companies find it difficult to manage a large influx of created VMs.
Citrix said it chose the Ottawa-based because of the dedication it’s shown to integrating and supporting Citrix virtualization solutions such as XenDesktop and XenServer as well as its fight against virtual sprawl. In becoming a technology partner, Embotics hopes to provide assurance to its customers that the V-Commander can be used effectively within the Citrix environment.
