Could this be the year that Softchoice gets displaced at the top solution provider in Canada?
It’s definitely a possibility given the drumbeat of acquisitions that prevailed in the channel in 2011, with many larger solution providers acquiring mid-sized and smaller players. Softchoice has claimed the top spot for more than six years now and the Toronto-based company made its own big splash late in the year, acquiring Unis Lumin just to keep up, and companies such as ONX went on huge spending sprees in an attempt to grow beyond the Canadian market place.
CDN’s annual tanking of the Top 100 Solution Providers in Canada is your best opportunity to separate yourself from the rest of the channel pack. It’s the most exclusive club in the high tech industry and as Canada’s top IT channel publication; it’s our duty to rank the best the channel has to offer.
This year we’ve asked IDC Canada to help us put this list together. IDC Canada is the premier market intelligence gatherer and research house in the business, and is well-respected for its extensive analysis of the top sectors, trends and issues in IT.
Solution providers are responsible for 53 per cent of of the IT hardware and software sold in Canada. Through service and support these providers also play a central role in helping Canadian companies leverage technology to become more productive. IDC is thrilled to participate the TOP 100 program and recognize Canada's most successful channel providers.
IDC will be tracking the companies on the list to ensure authenticity. Companies are ranked based on Canadian revenue for the year 2011.
Participating in this year’s Top 100 program is your chance to show the market that you too are a Top 100 solution provider and one of the best IT companies in Canada. Simply fill out the survey online at http://www.keysurvey.com/votingmodule/s180/survey/397367/1143/.
Or you can go to the Top 100 main page at www.itbusiness.ca/top100 to get more background information.
Also as a new initiative this year, CDN will be recognizing the top solution providers in the Western, Central and Eastern regions of Canada.
Last year 10 solution providers pushed into the Top 100 rankings for the first time, and several former members were able to make their way back on. We all love to read about newcomers such as Dimension Data Canada or comeback stories such as KTI Kanatek Technologies Inc., an Ottawa-based solution provider that was a staple of the list for many years before dropping off because of a tough economy. KTI worked very hard to regain a position on the list a few years ago. Through its struggles, KTI learned how not to take its position in the market for granted.
Canadian solution providers have proven they’re are a force to be reckoned with in the IT industry, and this is our chance to prove it.
