Cogeco Data Services announces three-hour SLA

Cogeco Data Services Inc., formerly known at Toronto Hydro Telecom, announced Tuesday it is committing itself to a three-hour response time to restore network outages.

 

As of September 1, the wide-area network service provider said its service level agreement guarantees its managed metropolitan Ethernet and managed wavelength customers that if they report a network problem, it will be restored within three hours. Otherwise, Cogeco will “credit” the customer, according to a company press release.

 

In addition to private lines, the company offers hosted storage and security services, plus wide-area networking over fibre lines taking advantage of Toronto Hydro electrical rights-of-way.

The company’s customers include both the public sector and financial services.

 

In late 2008Cogeco Data Services announced a $39 million contract to provide bandwidth at 1 Gigabit per second to Toronto District School Board. The board’s 600 schools have a 1 Gbps connection to other schools and a 40 Gbps connection to the board office’s data centre.

 

The City of Toronto has two separate contracts with Cogeco Data Services to connect its offices at 1 Gbps and its data centres at 20 Gbps.
