Tips for troubleshooting 802.1x

Security for wireless access points has come a long way in the last five years thanks to the IEEE’s 802.1X standard to help authenticate and secure both wireless and wired LANs. But it can be tricky for enterprises to set up.
 
In fact, as this analysis from Network World U.S. points out, it opens a network up to potential connectivity trouble. So this somewhat lengthy piece offers network and security administrators help in nailing things down.

Among the useful tips here are the utilities such as Radius Test for Windows (shareware available for a free 15 day test, US$29.95 for up to four licences) and Radlogin for Windows, FreeBSD, Sparc Solaris and Linux platforms.
