As various levels of government in Canada join the open data movement, it raises a question: What can you do with all that data, and who’s going to do it? The answer, according to Romy Ilano, founder of a U.S. mobile shopping startup, is hold a hackathon. Her report here on the recent Code for Oakland event is filled with joy.
OK, it comes from an IT enthusiast, but as she writes, “Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend meeting smart, passionate people pushing forward to make stuff for the world to use? This is fun!”
