Another tech giant announces its expansion in Canada with new digital acceleration centre

Global technology firm HCL Technologies recently announced the opening of its global delivery centre (GDC) focused on digital acceleration in Mississauga, Ontario.

From this innovation centre, HCL says it will deliver advanced technology solutions, including digital and analytics solutions, cloud consulting and migration, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and application services, to its global client base. The centre is home to co-innovation labs for customers and has a seating capacity of 350.

“From our newest centre, clients can experience a whole new world of technological innovation enabled by leading-edge immersive technologies, HCL’s best in class Intellectual property solutions and a unique design thinking approach to some of the most complex problems of Canadian enterprises,” said Joelien Jose, HCL’s executive vice-president and country head for Canada, in a March 26 news release.

The company says this expansion is a part of its growth strategy in Canada with plans to hire 2,000 employees in the next three years. This would nearly double its current Canadian workforce of 1,110. The newest GDC continues HCL’s 12 years of growth in Canada, which includes the launch of its first Canadian office in Toronto in 2009. The first GDC launched in New Brunswick in 2019, and the company is in the process of scouting locations for GDCs in British Columbia and Alberta, with plans to open in the future, a spokesperson for HCL told IT World Canada

“We are very excited to continue expanding our operations in Canada with our largest center yet in the country,” said Jagadeshwar Gattu, senior corporate vice president, HCL Technologies. “The new Global Delivery Center in Mississauga provides an opportunity for HCL Technologies to expand our best-in-class digital innovation in Canada and support our global clients while creating great IT industry job opportunities in this community. We look forward to more growth and opportunities in Canada in the coming months.”

The news comes shortly after tech giants Infosys, Twitter, Pinterest recently revealed their expansion plans in Canada.
