One Mississauga, Ont.-based technology firm is getting an inside perspective on economic relations in one of the world’s biggest tech hubs.
Officials from SOTI. Inc. recently joined Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Minister of Economic Development Brad Duguid on a trade mission to Japan.
“I am pleased to lead my mission to Japan with 45 delegates from Ontario, including SOTI,” said Premier Wynne in a press release. “This mission and participation from leaders like SOTI will help build on our strong trade relationships and foster new ones. This will help Ontario attract new investments and lay the groundwork for future partnerships to foster our continued economic growth.”
SOTI CEO Carl Rodrigues, along with the Ontario government officials, made the long journey to foster new business relationships. They met with prominent Japanese technology and communications business leaders — an already lucrative partnership, considering two-way trade between Ontario and Japan was pegged at more than $11 billion in 2015.
The trio also touted the province’s competitive economic climate and deep talent pool in order to build interest in investing in Ontario’s growing tech sector.
According to the Ontario delegates that attended the trip, SOTI was chosen for the trade mission because of its deep expertise in Android management, as well as its knowledge of the mobility management market.
“SOTI continues to lead Ontario ICT companies in promoting Canada’s intellectual property, products and services to the JAPAC region,” Minister Duguid said in a press release.
Rodrigues also hopes to leverage the trip to deepen SOTI’s business roots in the Asian nation. SOTI has plans to further expand their operations in the Japan and Asia-Pacific region (JAPAC) — so it makes sense that the mobility management company would join these league of delegates on the recent trade trip.
