I’ve recently had a behind-the-scenes peek at the Sun Microsystems computing support of the West McLaren Mercedes Formula One team at the Montreal Grand Prix. That’s an exciting world of speed and daring and using the latest technology to outdistance the competition. Assembling this issue of the print companion to www.itworldcanada.com, I am struck by similarities in the world of financial services. Here, too, timing is critical, competition is keen and information technology plays a major role. I’m told when there’s a rate hike or talk of a merger, it can get almost as noisy.
