AIIM certificate resolves e-mail glut and management issues

AIIM, a global community that helps businesses manage information, is launching a certificate program to resolve e-mail glut and management issues in the workplace.

The E-mail Management Specialist (EMMs) program, offered through the AIIM eLearning Center, is intended to help employees tackle the challenges that have resulted from e-mail being the primary source of business communications.

Issues like governance, storage and searchability are important considering potential litigation where an organization may be required to provide e-mails as part of an e-discovery process.

Atle Skjekkeland, AIIM vice-president, said that while e-mail management is one of the fastest growing concerns for many of today’s business organizations, “it is also one of the most misunderstood and underestimated elements in information management.”

Topics in the program include e-mail preservation, instant messaging, alternatives to e-mail and Web-based e-mail.
