Products unveiled xm, an office furniture collection that has the look and feel of classic furniture design and is adaptable to today’s IT work environment.
The design goal was to reinterpret the relationship between office technology, people and furniture, said John Hellwig, vice-president, design, development and innovation for Teknion.
President and CEO David Feldberg said xm is a response to the change in the ways people are working. Most companies have absorbed the technological upheaval of the eighties and nineties in their workplaces, Feldberg said, and the emerging need is for furniture that supports a highly mobile and very interconnected workforce at ease with technology, but needing greater comfort and individuality in their surroundings.
The backbone of xm is a service trunk that delivers power and data to the workstation, organizes the workspace and acts as the physical support for desk assemblies, divisional screens, stacking storage, transfer screens and accessories, said Teknion The configuration adds to the sense of personal space while addressing the need to fully integrate technology into the workplace.
