Check Point secures iPhones

Calgary-based Check Point Software Technologies has announced support for Apple’s iPhone in its VPN-1 gateway. The VPN-1 supports the iPhone’s L2TP embedded client, allowing an encrypted connection between iPhone and gateway without installing additional software on the phone, according to the company. Administrators can use a shared secret password and certificates for all iPhones on the network, with individual login credentials for each user. This eliminates the need to create separate authentication keys for each device, making it easier to deploy iPhones on the network, according to the company. Support for the iPhone is available immediately, the company said.
