Time to act: complying with personal information law

As a partner in the Toronto office of Deloitte & Touche Canada, Robert Parker’s main efforts these days is helping clients assess their current readiness and future strategy to deal with Canada’s new Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The legislation comes into effect Jan. 1, 2004, but he reports he tries to impress upon clients the wisdom of preparing now to have their information systems and records of how they use personal information in place by the end of 2003.
