With the threat of impending war just hours away, communications provider WorldCom Canada Inc. unveiled a new conferencing solution Wednesday aimed at extending the reach of businesses over geographic boundaries.
Despite troubled times, the struggling Toronto-based service provider appears determined to roll forward and has introduced its latest service, WorldCom Event Webcasting. The solution pairs live and archived video with multimedia content and interactive features, which the company said allows for more functionality of traditional audio and video conferences.
WorldCom Event Webcasting runs over the company’s IP network and users do not require special videoconferencing equipment to participate in sessions. Users simply access an Event Webcast via any Internet connection and the session is viewed through a media player window.
In addition, streaming media capabilities shorten the wait-time for viewing video, and users can view presentation slides and participate in or conduct Web tours complete with question-and-answer sessions via the solution’s interactive functions, the company said.
The solution responds to the demand for cost-effective communication, according to a statement made by WorldCom Canada’s Sam Mazzotta, director of products. Mazzotta added that the potential increase in audience reach through Event Webcasting spells big benefits to a business’s bottom line.
