Irvine, Calif.-based IOGEAR Inc. announced the launch of its new KVM switch – aimed at gamers and audio/video enthusiasts – at Monday’s Macworld Conference in San Francisco.
The switch enables users to share a Dual-Link DVI display, USB keyboard, mouse and surround-sound system between two computers. The product incorporates IOGEAR’s Display Emulation Technology, which allows for seamless switching and consistent resolutions among computers with various operating systems. This eliminates lost settings when booting or alternating between computers.
Using console mouse-port emulation, the switch automatically recognizes and supports the user’s mouse when switching between computers. Users also have the ability of by-passing the emulation to protect programmable mice from losing their functionality.
The switch supports 7.1 surround-sound speaker systems and DVI resolutions up to 3840 X 24000. It will be available next month for a starting price of US$400.
