Open Text Corp., an enterprise content management (ECM) solutions company, this week announced its intention to acquire Artesia Technologies Inc. — a provider of digital asset management (DAM) solutions.
Open Text will incorporate Artesia’s technologies into its ECM line of products, adding rich media management capabilities to the line.
Chicago-based Open Text, which also has offices in Waterloo, Ont., and Ottawa, said in a statement that the acquisition is an important step towards helping customers better integrate and manage all types of media for improved content management and collaboration.
Privately owned and based in Rockville, Minn., Artesia’s DAM applications were developed to provide users with access to and the ability to collaborate around a centrally managed collection of digital media elements, according to Open Text.
Some of Artesia’s applications include Production Asset Management, Brand Asset Management, Distribution Asset Management and Rich Digital Media Asset Management.
Over the past year Open Text has been no stranger to acquisitions. In February of this year the company acquired SER eGovernment Deutschland GmbH, based in Berlin, Germany, as well as SER Solutions Software GmbH, based in Salzburg, Austria. In October 2003, Open Text announced that it had acquired 88 per cent of IXOS Software AG.
According to Open Text, the closing of the Artesia acquisition is imminent. Financial details were not disclosed.
